Book Club - Serviceberry

  • Crooked Goat Brewing 110 Howard Street Petaluma, CA, 94952 United States (map)

Cool Petaluma Book Club

We planned to read Bad Environmentalism by Nicole Seymour in June, but it’s harder to find, so we are postponing that book until July to give people time to order. Instead, we will read The Serviceberry in June!

Join us in conversation around inspiring and thought provoking climate-related books. Understanding the world around us and how we can build a safer, healthier, and regenerative future is of utmost importance. Exploring these ideas and opportunities together creates the mutual support and team spirit we need. And it’s more fun!

The Serviceberry

By Robin Wall Kimmerer (128 pages) – While harvesting serviceberries alongside the birds, Kimmerer considers the ethic of reciprocity that lies at the heart of the gift economy. How, she asks, can we learn from Indigenous wisdom and ecological systems to reimagine currencies of exchange?
